Coconut

I had the bright idea to purchase a coconut for use in my protein shakes. Two problems existed beyond the scope of my culinary understanding.

1. I had no clue how to open a coconut.
2. Real coconut doesn't taste nearly as a good as processed (sweetened) and dried coconut.

Bear Grylls would have been disappointed with my inability to open a coconut without the aid of a hammer and a screwdriver.

Dude, I have been getting some protein shake (either powder packets or RTGs) by Labrada. You have to check them out because they are by far the best tasting shakes I have ever had. Get the vanilla ice cream flavor. Mix it with milk and whatever fruit you like and it tastes incredible.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You don't open a coconut with a screwdriver and hammer? LOL! OOPS.

Sarah- a hammer and a screwdriver were the first two things that came to mind. I did go buy dried and sweetened coconut so I wouldn't have to deal with this situation again. =)

I tried an ice pick once... Also, the nut-cracker theory with a vice. It's a good thing I'm not all that crazy about coconut.

Just when I thought that I had the coconut problem solved w/ a bag of dried coconut, one of my dogs stole the bag and ate all of the coconut. I guess loving coconut runs in the family.
